In this talk, Sandra will present a review of the current best evidence on cruciate disease, highlighting what has changed in the past 10 years, to aid practitioners in decision-making on the management of dogs with this common condition. The presentation will have a practical focus, discussing amongst other things how to diagnose and manage early cruciate disease, concurrent patella luxation, and the importance of meniscal injuries, as well as comparing outcomes and complication rates between the common surgical procedures. The influence of neutering on joint disease will also be discussed.

Sandra Corr is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Head of the Surgery team in the University of Glasgow Small Animal Hospital. She is a clinician-researcher, spending 50% of her time seeing surgical cases, specialising in musculoskeletal trauma and joint disease. As well as publishing widely in the surgical field, she has contributed to several papers and book chapters on companion animal ethics.
