Topics covered during this lecture: having a well-equipped recovery area, monitoring of the patient, crash carts, staffing, analgesia, and comfort of the patients.

Anita Parkin AVN, DipVN (Surgical, ECC), VTS (Anaesthesia), CVPP, TAA

Anita has been a veterinary nurse for over 20 years. Joining Veterinary Specialist Services in 2001 working as a medical and surgical nurse. For the last 10 years specialising as a surgical nurse.
In 2013 Anita completed her Diploma in Emergency and Critical Care, recertified in her Diploma in Surgery and was re-accredited through the VNCA (Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia). In 2012, Anita obtained her qualification as a Certified Veterinary Pain Practioner through the IVAPM (International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management). And has also a Veterinary Technician Specialty in Anaesthesia and Analgesia (2009 recertified 2015).
Her skills and experience that she has gained over the last 20 plus years are now being passed on to veterinary nurses throughout Australia and internationally through lectures, workshops and in-clinic hands-on training.
Anita is a member of the Academy of Veterinary Technician Anesthetists, International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, International Veterinary Critical Care Society and Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia.
Anita’s special interests include critical care, challenging anaesthetics, pain management and surgical nursing.
