This talk will look at the diagnostic options for adult horses presented with both acute and chronic diarrhoea, from clinical pathology to diagnostic imaging, what can be achieved in an ambulatory setting and which cases might require referral for investigation or hospitalised for treatment. We will then look at the management and treatment options for these cases including fluid therapy, gastrointestinal protectants, anti-inflammatories, anthelmintic treatments, antibiotic use (when it is/ is not appropriate) and nutritional support.
