Sam Long

DVM, BVSc, MVM, PhD, DipECVN, MRCVS

Sam graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1996 and spent a brief stint in practice before returning to his alma mater to complete an internship.
This was followed by a 3 year residency in neurology at the University of Glasgow, where he also completed a Phd.
From Glasgow he moved to the United states to take up a faculty position as Assisitant Professor and head of Neurology Service at the University of Pennsylvania’s Vet School in Philadelphia before finally returning to Australia to start up the neurology and neurosurgery division at Melbourne University, which now employs a second neurologist and two residents.
Sam is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Neurology and member of its executive committee. He has active clinical research in the fields of epilepsy, deep brain stimulation, degenerative myelopathy and canine brain tumours.
