This e-learning course provides veterinarians with fundamental knowledge of veterinary cardiology. It covers the anatomy and physiology of the heart, common congenital abnormalities, diagnostic methods such as auscultation, ECG and reading chest radiographs. The course is practice-oriented and ideal for both refreshing existing knowledge and as an introduction to cardiac examination and treatment in small animal practice. Finally we will also dive into the basics of ultrasonography of the heart.

Lily grew up in Hong Kong and Canada, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2011. She later pursued a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Murdoch in 2016. Since her graduation, Lily's career involved a one-year rotating internship and went on to commence her Residency in Veterinary Radiology and became a Fellow in small Animal Radiology through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Sciences. She has a keen interest in teaching and believes in keeping knowledge simple and readily available to those interested

Melanie is a University of Cambridge graduate. While working in primary care practice, she gained the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificates in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and Veterinary Cardiology. Following a rotating small animal internship at the Royal Veterinary College, she undertook a PhD on the epidemiology of canine myxomatous mitral valve disease at the same institution. After completing a cardiology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, she joined the University of Bristol, where she is currently Professor of Veterinary Cardiology.

Will graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2018. He began his career as a primary care small animal vet in Wiltshire where he quickly developed an interest in cardiology. This led to a rotating internship at Langford Vets before undertaking a residency in Small Animal Cardiology at the University of Liverpool in 2022. In addition to clinical training, Will also became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Will completed his residency in early 2025. Shortly after this he passed the ECVIM board examinations before joining Lumbry Park as a specialist in Small Animal Cardiology.

Joon graduated from Massey University in 2013 and completed a joined Cardiology Residency and Master of Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College in 2020. Joon became a Diplomate in American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) in 2021 and is a registered specialist in veterinary cardiology in New Zealand. Joon enjoys all aspect of veterinary cardiology but has a strong interest in echocardiography, congenital heart diseases, and feline cardiomyopathies. Joon has experience in tutoring basic echocardiography to veterinarians and published numerous articles on echocardiography and focused cardiac ultrasound in cats and dogs.

Andrew graduated from the University of Sydney in March 2019. After a few months in small animal practice he traded New South Wales for Old South Wales and moved to Cardiff, UK. After 12 months in Wales, he moved north to Newcastle to undertake a rotating internship at Wear Referrals. It was here he developed a fascination for cardiology, leading him to undertake a cardiology internship followed by a 3-year European residency in Small Animal Cardiology at the University of Liverpool which he completed in May 2025.
