The name is a clever play on words, referencing both the "gain" control on an ultrasound machine to enhance specific structures you are scanning and the opportunity to gain cutting-edge clinical knowledge in diagnostic ultrasound.
D.V.M., Ph.D., DACVR, DECVDI, Dominique Penninck and Dipl. ECVDI Emmelie Stock will guide you through five modules in which you will learn to optimize scanning technique and refine your diagnostic skills. It is the perfect way to amplify your expertise and provide better care for your patients.

Dominique Penninck
Prof., D.V.M., Ph.D., DACVR, DECVDI
A radiologist certified by veterinary boards on two continents, Dr. Dominique Penninck is a professor of diagnostic imaging at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Situated at the nexus between the Foster Hospital for Small Animals and the Hospital for Large Animals, the Cummings School's diagnostic imaging section comprises some of the most important diagnostic tools for veterinary cases: radiography (X-Rays), computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound and interventional radiology.
Dr. Penninck was born in Burundi, Africa, and grew up in Belgium. After attending the University of Liège in Belgium, she went on to earn her veterinary degree and, later, a PhD, at the same University. She is a diplomate of both the American College of Veterinary Radiology and the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, for which she served as president from 2006-2008.
Prior to joining the Tufts faculty in 1989, Dr. Penninck served as a small animal practitioner in Belgium, an ultrasound consultant at the University of Montreal's veterinary school, undertook a radiology residency and later was a lecturer at the University of California at Davis.
Since 1996, Dr. Penninck has written chapters in eight textbooks on various radiological textbooks and serves as the editor of the Atlas of Small Animal Ultrasonography (Wiley 2008-2015 and expected 3d edition in 2025). She is also a prolific publisher of scientific journal articles, and has been invited to speak at imaging conferences in Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, Spain, France, Belgium, Sweden, Greece, Argentina, Brazil and in the United States.
Emmelie Stock
Dipl. ECVDI (European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging®)
Emmelie Stock graduated as a veterinarian in 2012 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University.
She subsequently completed an internship and a residency in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging at the Department of Medical Imaging and Orthopaedics of Small Animals. During her residency, she also successfully completed a PhD entitled “The evaluation of kidney function in cats using non-invasive functional imaging.”
In 2019, she became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI).
She is currently working part-time at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ghent and part-time as an independent imaging consultant.
