Mandy Paterson

BVSc (Hons), PhD, MEd

Mandy has held the position of Principal Scientist with RSPCA Queensland for 5 years. She has a keen interest in animal welfare, policy development, exhibited animals, shelter animal management, wildlife, pest management and many other areas within the RSPCA. She represents the RSPCA Qld on many government committees including in the area of biosecurity, exhibited animals, kangaroo management, injured koala care, Fraser Island dingoes, to name a few. Mandy is also involved in research in collaboration with The University of Queensland and regularly teaches courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Mandy serves on the board of ANZCCART and as the chair of the Centre for Animal Welfare and Ethics Advisory Committee, UQ. Mandy worked as a clinical veterinarian for over 20 years and her PhD research was into the parent verification of dogs through blood groups and protein polymorphism.
