The neonatal period is the most critical and high-risk phase of life for puppies and kittens. Despite their small size, neonates present a disproportionately large clinical challenge - and yet, this is often the life stage we are least trained to manage. High mortality rates, fragile physiology, and unclear owner expectations make neonatal care complex for even experienced practitioners. In this webinar, we take a survival-style approach to understanding the neonate: what’s normal, what’s not, and how to intervene with confidence when things go wrong. Key topics will include thermoregulation, passive immunity, feeding protocols, and emergency interventions essential to the care of newborn puppies and kittens. With a focus on informed decision-making and effective communication with owners and breeders, this webinar provides clinicians with practical tools and guidelines for navigating the chaos and vulnerability of early life.
