Kylie graduated from veterinary school in Australia. With the enthusiasm of a new graduate, she joined an outback veterinary practice to be one of only two veterinarians servicing 270,000 square kilometres of desert in northern Australia. In contrast with this experience, she then practiced as a small animal veterinarian in Great Britain and follow this with a stint as a country practitioner in tropical Queensland. In 2000 she headed south to join the University of Melbourne Veterinary Hospital Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) service. Her passion for all things ECC was sparked. In 2014 Kylie was awarded specialist-level qualifications in ECC through fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. Kylie has a passion for both teaching and ECC. She is currently employed as a senior lecturer for the University of Melbourne Veterinary School and enjoys teaching both undergraduate students and the University’s online graduate certificate in small animal ECC.

Lara graduated from the University of Sydney in 2004 and initially worked in feline and general small animal practice in Brisbane and Canberra. She completed her specialist training at the University of Bristol and has been working at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney since 2013, currently as a Senior Lecturer. Lara is both an Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists specialist in feline medicine and a European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine specialist in small animal medicine. Her research interests include endocrine, hepatobiliary, gastrointestinal and infectious diseases of cats.

Danach fand Sie über den Weg der Großtierpraxis und einem klinischen Jahr in einer renommierten Münchner Kleintierklinik den Weg in die tierärztliche Industrie, zunächst in der fachlichen Beratung bei MSD Tiergesundheit. Aktuell arbeitet Sie bei Ecuphar als Technical Service Managerin und bringt ihre Leidenschaft für Kommunikation in die tierärztliche Beratung sowie zur Ausbildung des Außendienstes ein. Ihre Schwerpunkte sind die Pharmazeutika, unter anderem betreut Sie ein NSAID mit einwöchiger Wirkdauer für den Hund sowie die Kaninchenimpfstoffe und die neue Zahnpflegeserie.

Laura qualified with a BSc(Hons) in Veterinary Nursing from Napier University in Edinburgh in 2010 and became an RVN with the RCVS. In 2015 she moved to Australia and started her journey into emergency and critical care, working as a Team Leader and 2IC in a busy referral ICU/emergency department. In 2022 she moved on to head her own ECC department at a new hospital and started her side business 'Veterinary Emergency Specialty Training' aka VEST so that she could share her experience and knowledge to help others learn and develop in the area of ECC. Laura has gained extra qualifications since leaving university, including completing her CertVNECC in 2019 and gaining her VTS (Vet Technician Specialty) in ECC through the AVECCTN in 2022. Laura hopes that by sharing her knowledge and skills she can help people to feel comfortable dealing with emergencies and critical patients and achieving better outcomes for future patients and staff.

Dr Laura Brockley obtained her Bachelor of Veterinary Science with honours from the University of Melbourne in 2001. She initially worked in small animal and mixed practices in Victoria and the United Kingdom, including teaching students at the Royal College in London. Laura completed an internship and residency in Veterinary Oncology at the Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre in 2011. In 2013 she became a registered specialist in Veterinary Oncology (Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists). Laura has a strong clinical interest in immunotherapy, lymphoma diagnostics and treatment, and using evidence-based medicine to provide compassionate care to cancer patients. She advocates spending the time to ensure pet owners are making an informed decision on treatment options ranging from palliative to potentially curative in intent. Laura is actively involved in continuing education, including lecturing Veterinary nursing students and examining our next generation of oncology specialists.

Laura graduated from Murdoch University in 2003. She worked in mixed practice in Northern Victoria and then in Gippsland for 2 ½ years before completing an internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery at Sydney University. Following this, Laura successfully applied for a residency position and completed a 3 year residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Laura worked at Adelaide University as a Lecturer in Equine Medicine for 1 year prior to joining Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital in 2011. Laura has a special interest in neonatal medicine and neurological disease in horses.

Laura is a registered specialist in equine medicine and also has further qualifications in equine stud medicine. She graduated with honours from the University of Sydney in 2003. Thereafter she undertook an internship and remained at Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital as an assistant to Dr Angus McKinnon for several years, gaining a certificate in Equine Stud Medicine from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the UK in 2007. Laura completed a residency in Equine Medicine with Dr Kate Savage and Dr Sally Church at the University of Melbourne. Through this she gained a masters degree after researching cardiac disease and gained fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in equine medicine in 2010. Laura has also worked in racetrack practice at Flemington Equine Clinic. Overseas, she has been at the Clyde Veterinary Group in Scotland and was last year working at Rossdales and Partners in Newmarket, England. Laura continues to enjoy helping with a broad range of cases including cardiac and respiratory disease, neurology, colic and diarrhoea, weight loss, endocrine diseases such as Cushings (PPID) and foal disorders.

Laura qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2010, gained the RCV Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing in 2014 and graduated from Harper Adams University, UK with a top-up degree in Advanced Veterinary Nursing in 2017.
After working in various small animal first-opinion, referral and out-of-hours centres, Laura joined the team at The Ralph Veterinary Referral Centre (Buckinghamshire, UK) in January 2019, as Senior Medicine Nurse. Laura became a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2019, and her particular interests include feline medicine, critical care medicine, gastroenterology, transfusion medicine and hepatic disease.

Laureen Peters hat 2004-2009 an der Vetsuisse-Fakultät Bern Tiermedizin studiert. Im Anschluss hat sie eine Dissertation in Pharmakogenetik geschrieben, und ein einjähriges Internship in innerer Medizin an der Kleintierklinik der Vetsuisse-Fakultät Bern absolviert. Danach ist sie für eine Residency in klinischer Pathologie am Royal Veterinary College nach London gezogen und hat 2015 das ACVP Diplom erhalten. Sie war noch weitere vier Jahre am RVC als Lecturer tätig, wo sie berufsbegleitend das postgraduate certificate in veterinary education absolvierte. Im Jahre 2018 hat sie den early career Award der American Society of Veterinary Clinical pathology erhalten. Seit 2019 ist Laureen Peters wieder an ihrer Alma Mater, wo sie als Oberassistentin im klinischen Zentrallabor ihre Zeit zwischen Zytologie-diagnostik, Lehre, und Forschung mit Schwerpunkt Pankreas und Sepsis aufteilt.

Lauren qualified with an honours degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2011. She worked in a busy mixed animal general practice for a number of years and developed an interest in emergency work. In 2014 she gained her Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care and has an interest in emergency medicine. After joining HeartVets in 2020, she has worked as a Cardiology Referral Nurse and has been able to develop her skills in all things Cardiology! Lauren particularly enjoys echocardiography and nursing critical patients. Lauren has been a clinical coach for a number of years, training veterinary nurse students and in 2020 gained her teacher training qualification. She is passionate and proud of the veterinary nursing profession and is keen to encourage others to follow their passions and develop their skills.

Lauren is an Australian Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with over 15 years of clinical experience, dedicated to the dynamic field of emergency and critical care medicine. An Accredited Veterinary Nurse (AVN), she completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2010 and has since built a career defined by expertise, resilience, and a commitment to advancing veterinary care.
Her journey began in veterinary ophthalmology, but in 2015, she discovered her true calling in emergency and critical care. Since then, she has worked in private and academic specialty referral hospitals, navigating the high-stakes world of emergency medicine with skill and compassion. She has a particular passion for ventilators and respiratory medicine, compromised renal patients, alongside critically ill septic patients, where her technical expertise, compassionate care, and attention to detail make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes.
As a RECOVER CPR-certified instructor in Basic and Advanced Life Support, Lauren is dedicated to improving veterinary standards through advanced, evidence-based resuscitation training. Her commitment to professional growth earned her a Certificate in Veterinary Nursing for Emergency and Critical Care (CertVNECC) in 2017. In 2022, she achieved one of the highest honours in her field by passing the Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) board exam in Emergency and Critical Care, securing her place among the elite members of the Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians and Nurses (AVECCTN).
Beyond the clinic, Lauren is a passionate educator, driven by the belief that knowledge should be shared. Lauren is a veterinary educator and trainer who lectures, tutors, and leads immersive simulation sessions nationally and internationally. She is dedicated to advancing clinical skills, elevating patient care, and inspiring both current and future generations of veterinary nurses.

Derzeit bin ich als Spezialistin für Chirurgie an der Kleintierchirurgie der Vetmeduni Vienna tätig. Nach Abschluss des Studiums der Veterinärmedizin in Wien 1999 und Promotion zur Dr.med.vet. 2001 zum Thema „Die Narkoseerhaltung mit Isofluran/Fentanyl, Sevofluran/Fentanyl und Propofol/Fentanyl bei traumatisierten Katzen“, absolvierte ich ein 3-jähriges Residency des European College for Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) in Wien, Zürich und Edinburgh. Nach Ablegung der Prüfung zur Europäischen Fachtierärztin für Kleintierchirurgie (Diplomate ECVS) verbrachte ich zwei Jahre in Großbritannien bei Davies Veterinary Specialists als Spezialistin für Weichteilchirurgie. Auch zurück in Wien liegt mein Interesse in der Weichteilchirurgie, mit besonderem Schwerpunkt in der Atemwegs- und Thoraxchirurgie sowie der minimal invasiven Chirurgie.

Leah graduated from the University of Sydney in 1999 and following a stint in mixed practice in Queensland she headed to the UK in 2001. Following 2 years of locum work and travelling she commenced a residency in anaesthesia, analgesia and critical care at the University of Liverpool in the UK in 2003. In 2005 she was awarded the Royal college certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia and in 2008 she became a diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. She returned to Australia in 2006 to work at the University of Melbourne veterinary Hospital where she provided a clinical anaesthesia service whilst teaching students, vets and nurses for six years. She is now working at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga where her interests include teaching, welfare and pain management.
