IDEXX Svenska Veterinärgruppen Vetopia VSEARCH Renal Project

IDEXX Svenska Veterinärgruppen Vetopia VSEARCH Renal Project
IDEXX Svenska Veterinärgruppen Vetopia VSEARCH Renal Project
A multi-clinic project involving 17 veterinary practices and nearly 500 samples assessed the diagnostic value of SDMA compared to creatinine. Results showed that SDMA identified about twice as many cases of impaired kidney function and often detected earlier stages where creatinine remained normal. This is clinically important, as early detection enables earlier intervention, which has been shown to improve survival time and quality of life in patients. Case discussions also demonstrated the complexity of interpreting results, as factors like dehydration, muscle mass, and concurrent diseases can influence biomarkers. Overall, the project confirms that integrating SDMA into routine diagnostics enhances clinical decision-making and supports better patient management.
