Masters of Disguise: Recognising and Managing Feline Pain

Duration: 1:00 h
Speaker: Emily Foot
from 1 US$ 49.40

Description

A concept grown in practice, this lecture an introduction to a feline pain recognition tool that is about more than pain scoring, ticking a box or quantifying pain. Created for the species with subtle expression, it is about assessing our feline patients holistically to gather a 'global' picture of their pain status. Indicators such as appetite and body language with the addition of previous experience and stress, are all proven to attribute to pain signalment. I hope to inspire and empower care caregivers to assess patients as a whole and be advocates for multimodal analgesia.

This speaker will be covering factors that impair cats perception of pain, the negative impacts of this and what to do if you are unsure about a feline patient's pain status. Finally, the session will include analgesia options, incorporating the pain pathway and the different types of pain experienced by our patients.
