In this presentation we will endeavour to cover the many reasons to consider artificial ventilation in small animal practice with an emphasis on emergency practice. Once a decision has been made to provide artificial ventilation we need to consider the steps involved to obtain this. At this point, consideration and discussion will be including chemical enhancement of a patient to allow us to control or assist its ventilation, securing of the airway, the numerous ways to deliver a breathe, monitoring ventilation and weaning a patient off ventilation.
