Paul Mills

Prof., BVSc, PhD, MANZCVSc, Grad Cert Ed, MPhil (Vet Ed)

Prof Paul Mills graduated from the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland in 1987 and has worked in mixed practice and as an emergency clinician. His PhD investigated the effects of inflammation of the kinetics of drugs administered to racing animals before working as a Scientific Office at the Animal Health Trust in England, pioneering work on the effects of nitric oxide on equine pulmonary function and EIPH. Prof Mills has also worked as a Regulatory Veterinary Officer in Queensland Racing, a National Health & Medical Research Council Senior Research Officer at the Princess Alexandria Hospital. He attained membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Science in Veterinary Pharmacology and is currently a Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology at the School of Veterinary Science at The University of Queensland. Prof Mills consults for various organizations, including the Australian Crime Commission and Australian Racing authorities, with over 130 peer-reviewed scientific papers to date, with a focus on transdermal drug delivery and clinical pharmacology. He is a Scientific Editor for The Veterinary Journal and the Australasian Editor for Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
