Exotic mammals are increasingly presented to veterinary practices both within Australia and worldwide. Many species that were previously considered as children’s or backyard pets are now fully fledged family members living indoors. Veterinary care for small mammal patients is also becoming more sophisticated and advanced with the rise in owner expectations.
This webinar will cover the basics of nursing exotic small mammals, including rabbits, ferrets, and guinea pigs. A focus will be placed on husbandry and diet as these factors play an important role in health and welfare. Safe handling skills, tips for clinical examination and hospitalisation will also be covered. We aim to empower participants to become confident in providing great nursing care to these increasingly popular pets.
The Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician (AVNAT) Regulatory Council has allocated (1) AVNAT CPD point to this continuing education activity.
