Crimes against animals are a commonly encountered and there is a well-known link between violence against animals and other types of interpersonal violence including domestic violence, elder abuse, and child abuse. In this presentation, we will explore the different types of animal cruelty and how veterinarians can assist during an animal cruelty investigation.

Adam Stern

DVM, CMI-IV, CFC, DACVP, Associate Professor of Forensic Pathology

Dr. Stern is an Associate Professor of Forensic Pathology at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Prince Edward Island, Atlantic Veterinary College. He is a Board-Certified Veterinary Pathologist and has expertise in veterinary forensic pathology. At the University of Florida, he currently teaches an elective course on Veterinary Forensic Pathology and a veterinary forensics clinical rotation. Dr. Stern is a member of the International Veterinary Forensic Sciences Association and is the immediate past President of the association.
