My name is Paul Cunningham, & I am an emergency veterinarian & founder of Ready Vet Go - Pet Ambulance & Mobile Urgent Vet Care. Originally from the United States, I received my veterinary education at Oklahoma State University & followed this with a rotating medicine & surgery internship at Michigan State University. I practiced with a multi-speciality vet hospital group in Detroit, Michigan for several years before moving to Australia to continue my professional endeavour’s and live in one of my favourite countries on earth. I have a clinical focus on shock stabilisation & management of electrolyte disturbances. My latest project is the foundation a human-grade veterinary ambulance service in Melbourne, Victoria called Ready Vet Go.

Prof Paul Mills graduated from the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland in 1987 and has worked in mixed practice and as an emergency clinician. His PhD investigated the effects of inflammation of the kinetics of drugs administered to racing animals before working as a Scientific Office at the Animal Health Trust in England, pioneering work on the effects of nitric oxide on equine pulmonary function and EIPH. Prof Mills has also worked as a Regulatory Veterinary Officer in Queensland Racing, a National Health & Medical Research Council Senior Research Officer at the Princess Alexandria Hospital. He attained membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Science in Veterinary Pharmacology and is currently a Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology at the School of Veterinary Science at The University of Queensland. Prof Mills consults for various organizations, including the Australian Crime Commission and Australian Racing authorities, with over 130 peer-reviewed scientific papers to date, with a focus on transdermal drug delivery and clinical pharmacology. He is a Scientific Editor for The Veterinary Journal and the Australasian Editor for Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics.

Penny graduated from the University of Qld in 1986 and has practiced across Sydney in areas as diverse as Guildford, Double Bay, Waverley, Stanmore, Five Dock, Rose Bay and Denistone. Penny was admitted to the New Zealand and Australian College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in Canine Medicine in 1991 and has a special interest in veterinary nutrition. She was the Secretary of the AVA Sydney Metropolitan Practitioners Branch for twelve years and currently works as a full time senior nutritional consultant for Hills Pet Nutrition as well as a part time clinical veterinarian. Penny grew up on acreage surrounded by animals and has always maintained a multicat household. Penny and Paul have a beautiful 13 year old daughter Olivia and a young and boistrous female black and white domestic cat Clarice.

Dr Penny Thomas graduated from the University of Sydney in 2011 and initially spent time in mixed practice in the NSW Hunter Valley. She went on to undergo her internship and residency training at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital in Sydney. During the course of her training she spent time at Colorado State University, The Animal Health Trust in the UK, University of Madison Wisconsin and time in the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in Sydney. She obtained her memberships in Small Animal Medicine from the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2015.
She became a Fellow of the college in 2019 and is a Registered Specialist in Veterinary Oncology. She has recently undergone postgraduate study in Psychology and has helped mentor many recent graduate veterinarians. Penny has a passion for providing educational materials and mentorship to her fellow veterinarians, and veterinary nurses and believes that the patients quality of life is by far the most important part of cancer treatment.

Mrs Lau-Gillard graduated in 1996 as a Veterinary Surgeon from the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany.
After completing her doctor thesis in 1999, she moved to the UK in 2000 and worked at two small animal practices in Nottingham as an assistant.
From 2001 - 2004 she has worked as a Scholar in Veterinary Dermatology the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket and was rewarded at the end of the training program the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology.
In 2005 Mrs Lau-Gillard moved to the South West coast in the UK and worked for several years as a clinician and teacher at the Dermatology Service at Bristol University. During that time she had completed an ECVD recognised residency training programme. In the beginning of 2011 Mrs Lau-Gillard started her veterinary dermatology consultancy service in the South West/UK and in 2012 she successfully took the examination to become a Diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Dermatology.
Her main interest is canine and feline dermatology, particular allergic skin and ear disease.
In her private time Mrs Lau-Gillard enjoys walking her three dogs Buster, Dylan and Millipede in the beautiful Somerset country side. She is also a keen runner, attends regular classes in the gym and ballroom classes with her husband.

Pete is a European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and an RCVS Recognized Specialist in Diagnostic Imaging. He is a regular author, speaker and tutor on the subjects of small animal radiology, ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
Pete is Senior Lecturer in Radiology at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London.

Panagiotis “Pete” Mantis graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1994. He completed a residency in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging at the Royal Veterinary College, London, and subsequently worked in both first-opinion and referral practices in London. After spending a year at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, he returned to the Royal Veterinary College in 2000, where he became Senior Lecturer in Radiology.
Pete joined Dick White Referrals in 2017 and was appointed Head of Diagnostic Imaging in 2019. He is a European and RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
He is the founder of Vet-Learn.com and is a regular author, speaker and CPD tutor in small animal radiology, ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Pete has a particular interest in making diagnostic imaging practical, clinically relevant and accessible for vets working in everyday small animal practice.

He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (Canine Medicine) and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology, Small Animal Internal Medicine). Peter is a member of a consensus statement committee for the American College on Veterinary Internal Medicine on the topic of Chemotherapy Safety.

Peter graduated in veterinary science in 1976, completed a Diploma in Veterinary Anaesthesia at the University of Sydney in 1977 and the Fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 1982. Peter is a registered specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesiology and is held in high regard by the veterinary profession for his surgical ability. Peter's clinical skill was acknowledged by the Australian Veterinary Association by his appointment as "Small Animal Practitioner of the Year" in 1991. An avid reader of the scientific journal "Nature", Peter's brain has continued to expand to the point where it has displaced most of the hair from the front of his head! Although now retired, Peter is still well known and active in both the industry and local community.

Peter is an honorary senior lecturer in the Division of Social and Community Health in the School of Population Health at the University of Auckland. His teaching and research interests are in the area of therapeutic communication, loss and grief, vicarious traumatisation, and self-care. Although almost fully retired from the University, Peter maintains his links through teaching on some programmes and supervision of Master’s and Doctoral students. His activities outside of academic life include work as a Director for a large aged care organisation, time with grandchildren, performing in a Ukulele band, and working as a front line Ambulance Officer.

Peter graduated in veterinary science from the Royal Veterinary College, London University in 1982 and has a PhD from James Cook University (1991) for studies into canine babesiosis in Australia. Peter has worked in academia in Australia and overseas for more than 30 years as a teacher of companion animal medicine and as a researcher in the fields of veterinary parasitology and medical microbiology. He is an internationally recognized expert in vector-borne diseases. His current research concerns tick-borne infections of companion animals, wildlife and humans in Australia. Peter is appointed Professor Emeritus at Murdoch University and currently lives in Sunshine Coast, SE Queensland, where he works part time at a specialist hospital.

As a veterinary communications management consultant, Phil develops communications and marketing content for veterinary businesses, and science and conservation organisations. He regularly writes content for the Australian Veterinary Association and he curated content for the AVA’s Return to Work online learning resource. Phil has previously worked as Communications Manager for the Australian Wildlife Conservancy, Communications and Interpretation Coordinator for Perth Zoo, as a journalist for SBS News, and as a producer and presenter for the ABC. In 2020, Phil was awarded the Veterinary Business Professional of the Year.
