Dr. Lauren Demos graduated from Murdoch University, then completed a feline medicine residency and obtained her specialist status in 2019; subsequently she has practiced in various niches of veterinary medicine around the world. She currently is a consultant in private practice, lecturing and teaching on various feline topics, as well as consulting for various veterinary businesses and non-profit organizations.
Lauren has published on various wide-ranging topics in feline medicine, such as novel research into feline papillomavirus, and co-authored Cats For Dummies. She is passionate about feline internal medicine, and integrating various therapeutic approaches of feline medicine to treat the feline patient in toto. She currently works as a referral clinician at Bath Veterinary Referrals, in Bath.

Lauren qualified with an honours degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2011. She worked in a busy mixed animal general practice for a number of years and developed an interest in emergency work. In 2014 she gained her Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care and has an interest in emergency medicine. After joining HeartVets in 2020, she has worked as a Cardiology Referral Nurse and has been able to develop her skills in all things Cardiology! Lauren particularly enjoys echocardiography and nursing critical patients. Lauren has been a clinical coach for a number of years, training veterinary nurse students and in 2020 gained her teacher training qualification. She is passionate and proud of the veterinary nursing profession and is keen to encourage others to follow their passions and develop their skills.

Lauren is an Australian Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with over 15 years of clinical experience, dedicated to the dynamic field of emergency and critical care medicine. An Accredited Veterinary Nurse (AVN), she completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2010 and has since built a career defined by expertise, resilience, and a commitment to advancing veterinary care.
Her journey began in veterinary ophthalmology, but in 2015, she discovered her true calling in emergency and critical care. Since then, she has worked in private and academic specialty referral hospitals, navigating the high-stakes world of emergency medicine with skill and compassion. She has a particular passion for ventilators and respiratory medicine, compromised renal patients, alongside critically ill septic patients, where her technical expertise, compassionate care, and attention to detail make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes.
As a RECOVER CPR-certified instructor in Basic and Advanced Life Support, Lauren is dedicated to improving veterinary standards through advanced, evidence-based resuscitation training. Her commitment to professional growth earned her a Certificate in Veterinary Nursing for Emergency and Critical Care (CertVNECC) in 2017. In 2022, she achieved one of the highest honours in her field by passing the Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) board exam in Emergency and Critical Care, securing her place among the elite members of the Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians and Nurses (AVECCTN).
Beyond the clinic, Lauren is a passionate educator, driven by the belief that knowledge should be shared. Lauren is a veterinary educator and trainer who lectures, tutors, and leads immersive simulation sessions nationally and internationally. She is dedicated to advancing clinical skills, elevating patient care, and inspiring both current and future generations of veterinary nurses.

Derzeit bin ich als Spezialistin für Chirurgie an der Kleintierchirurgie der Vetmeduni Vienna tätig. Nach Abschluss des Studiums der Veterinärmedizin in Wien 1999 und Promotion zur Dr.med.vet. 2001 zum Thema „Die Narkoseerhaltung mit Isofluran/Fentanyl, Sevofluran/Fentanyl und Propofol/Fentanyl bei traumatisierten Katzen“, absolvierte ich ein 3-jähriges Residency des European College for Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) in Wien, Zürich und Edinburgh. Nach Ablegung der Prüfung zur Europäischen Fachtierärztin für Kleintierchirurgie (Diplomate ECVS) verbrachte ich zwei Jahre in Großbritannien bei Davies Veterinary Specialists als Spezialistin für Weichteilchirurgie. Auch zurück in Wien liegt mein Interesse in der Weichteilchirurgie, mit besonderem Schwerpunkt in der Atemwegs- und Thoraxchirurgie sowie der minimal invasiven Chirurgie.

Leah graduated from the University of Sydney in 1999 and following a stint in mixed practice in Queensland she headed to the UK in 2001. Following 2 years of locum work and travelling she commenced a residency in anaesthesia, analgesia and critical care at the University of Liverpool in the UK in 2003. In 2005 she was awarded the Royal college certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia and in 2008 she became a diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. She returned to Australia in 2006 to work at the University of Melbourne veterinary Hospital where she provided a clinical anaesthesia service whilst teaching students, vets and nurses for six years. She is now working at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga where her interests include teaching, welfare and pain management.

Leanne Twomey was born and raised in Perth and graduated with a BVMS from Murdoch University in 1996. Leanne spent two years in small animal practice, and then returned to Murdoch to complete a PhD in animal nutrition in 1999. Leanne then completed a 3-year residency program in clinical pathology at the University of Florida, which provided training in all aspects of clinical pathology including haematology, biochemistry, cytology and serology. At the completion of the residency, Leanne sat and passed the 2005 ACVP board examinations in clinical pathology. Leanne joined Vetpath Laboratory Services in 2005 and became Clinical Director in 2019. Her special interests include haematology and cytology. Outside of work, Leanne likes to read and enjoy life in Perth with her husband and two young sons.

Dr. Lena Maria Holbein studierte von 2009 bis 2015 Veterinärmedizin an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen. Anschließend hat sie an der Kleintierchirurgie der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen ihre Promotion angefertigt und die Weiterbildungszeit zur Fachtierärztin für bildgebende Verfahren -Kleintiere- absolviert. 2020 wechselte sie an die AniCura Ahlen, wo sie seitdem als Oberärztin der bildgebenden Diagnostik tätig ist. Seit 2021 hat sie die Leitung der Bildgebungsabteilung der AniCura Ahlen übernommen und ist zudem Gutachterin für Hüftgelenks- und Ellbogengelenkdysplasie der GRSK.

Leon holds qualifications and expertise across a diverse range of fields including biological, veterinary, and medical sciences, higher education, pain research, anaesthesia, pharmaceutical research and development. He graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Murdoch University (Western Australia) in 2009. Following graduation, he undertook an internship in anaesthesia, emergency, and critical care medicine. Leon joined the Melbourne Veterinary School’s anaesthesia and analgesia section at the University of Melbourne in 2010 where he completed a specialty training program in anaesthesia and pain management, a clinical master’s degree in anaesthesia as well as a PhD in pain-management and assessment. In 2015 he completed an externship in anaesthesia and trauma management at The Austin and Royal Melbourne Hospitals. Leon is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia, a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists anaesthesia chapter, and an Australasian Veterinary Boards Council registered specialist in anaesthesia. Leon is a director of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Pain Management Australia, an adjunct senior lecturer at Murdoch University and senior research fellow at Curtin University. Recently Leon founded The Vet Pharmacist, a trusted supplier of quality medicinal cannabis pharmaceuticals to the veterinary industry.
Leon’s current clinical research focuses on examining the efficacy of medicinal cannabis across multiple species; the use of Quality of Life as a primary outcome measure for chronic disease; and the development of assessment and management strategies for complex pain disorders. His passion for the veterinary profession has led him to join the Executive Committee of the Australian Small Animal Veterinarians (ASAV), AVA SIG.

Dr. Liam Clay studied at the University of Queensland (UQ), from which he holds a Doctorate in Canine Behaviour Assessment, Behavioural Problems and Adoption
suitability in Australian shelters. Through UQ, Liam has also completed his honours in Stress and Behavioural Problems and became the first VTS specialist in Behaviour in 2020 in Australia.
Dr Clay is the Director of Future Proof Training Academy, treating complex behaviour problems (Severe sensory sensitivities, aggression, fear and anxiety) by
pioneering new and innovative scientific breakthroughs in animal behaviour therapy. Dr Clay is the director of Applied Animal Behaviour Consultants for industry
consulting, research and education through the veterinary industry. He is an adjunct lecturer and researcher with the University of Queensland, School of Veterinary Science.
He currently researches and supervises students in the areas of canine behaviour problems, shelter behaviour, behaviour assessments, one health and behaviour therapy.

Libby graduated from the University of Queensland in 2004 with first class honours. She then worked in mixed practice in Wagga Wagga for 2 years before moving to the UK to take up position at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) as Veterinary Investigation Officer. This role involved production animal disease investigation and veterinary surveillance. Libby then moved on to a residency in veterinary anatomic pathology at the RVC for two years before returning to Wagga and Charles Sturt University (CSU). At CSU she was trained in clinical pathology including cytology. During her training she completed a Masters in Veterinary Medicine, became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (Anatomic pathology), and a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in veterinary pathology. Since then she has been an examiner for the ANZCVS pathology membership exam. Since moving to Melbourne in 2014 Libby has been working in private veterinary diagnostic pathology and has experience in a wide range of species. She is motivated to deliver a high standard of professional and personalised service with an integrated approach to diagnostic pathology.

Dr Linda Fleeman runs Animal Diabetes Australia, which is a clinical service that specifically caters for diabetic dogs and cats in Melbourne. Linda is an internationally renowned expert on the treatment of diabetes in dogs and is regularly invited to speak on this topic at international and national forums. Throughout her career, she has worked in both university referral practice and private practice, and her primary focus for more than 20 years has been on all aspects of diabetes in dogs and cats.
Linda graduated from the University of Queensland and completed a Small Animal Medicine Internship at Murdoch University and a Residency in Small Animal Medicine at the University of Melbourne. This was followed by a PhD at the University of Queensland on the clinical management of diabetes mellitus in dogs. She held positions as Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at the University of Queensland and Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at the University of Sydney before founding Animal Diabetes Australia in 2010.

Linda graduated from the University of Sydney in Australia in 1984 and became a Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology after over 10 years working in general practice, following an initial desire to understand skin disease better and provide improved patient outcomes. She achieved Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) in Veterinary Dermatology in 2003 and has worked in both university clinical practice and private referral practice since then. Linda continues to teach dermatology skills to veterinary students, regularly participates in post-graduate dermatology education, and is passionate about promoting a greater understanding of dermatology. Linda’s special interests include atopic dermatitis, otitis, and maximising value of skin sampling techniques, including skin surface and ear cytology.

Lindsay Kellett-Gregory graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 2004. She spent 2 years in small animal private practice in the UK where she developed an interest in emergency and critical care. She subsequently completed a rotating internship at the RVC in 2007 before moving to the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, to complete a residency in emergency and critical care medicine in 2010. She obtained board certification in the same year and moved back to the RVC where she remained as a Lecturer in Emergency and Critical Care until 2018. She will take up the post of Specialist in Emergency and Critical care Medicine at Dick White Referrals, a large specialty referral hospital in the UK, in the autumn of 2018 where she will set up a critical care service to support the other specialty services. Lindsay is interested in all aspects of ECC, but has a particular interest in sepsis, respiratory emergencies and extracorporeal therapies.

Lindsey Connell has had many years experience treating both musculo-skeletal and neuromuscular conditions in people and commenced treating animals in 1999. She completed her post graduate Masters in Animal Studies (Animal Physiotherapy) at the University of Queensland in 2004.
She is the director of Animal Physiotherapy Solutions and consults from Veterinary Specialist Services in Brisbane Qld.
Lindsey has a special interest in treating sporting dogs , helping to maintain their strength and protect them from injury . She is also very active in canine sports as she owns two Border Collies and a young Kelpie.
